So, you are probably the only one who reads this and would it not suffice to say that it would be easier to just pick up the phone now and then?
The ward party was a pretty big hit. Kind of funny about "cooking"....... there were, i'd say about 150 in all, including kids. Lots of older folks just because of the geography of the ward, anyhow, i got there and ended up in the kitchen, didn't mean to stay there for the night but i pretty much did.
You would think that with all these older women who have been cooking for decades and given the fact that every turkey breast started out the exact same, how on earth do you ruin one? I'm not quite sure what some of them cooked them in or what they put on them while they were cooking, but common....
I made two (plus a fair amount of gravy which no one else did) and they were gone in seconds flat, i didn't even get my own!
The funny part was the desert, i made 4 pumpkin and 2 cheesecake pies and on purpose, they were not even mentioned until the great bid sheet cakes had been out for about 15-20 min. I did the pumpkin first, just tiny slices with a little cool whip (mmmmmm could eat that right out of the tub!) and were taken out, within 5 min there were people storming into the kitchen wanting pie but there was none, however they all saw the cheesecake, so then there was a group hovering just inside the door to the cultural hall waiting to pounce. The older members didn't have a chance, they couldn't move fast enough.
needless to say, i may become the home ec teacher of something, the younger couples wives were a little speechless and the guys were almost wondering why their wives couldn't make that. Hum, it was fun though!!!
i'm sorry, are you board? I better go now anyway. ta ta

Grrr....I am NOT the only one who reads this. Johnny reads it. Mom and Dad read this (but they almost never leave comments), Tom & Carol read it. Mark & Laura (cousins) read this, I believe.
Why stop blogging? Can't you blog AND talk on the phone once in a while? Sheesh. Don't be a blogger party pooper.
Just have to add...it's pretty funny that you showed up the women in the ward with your awesome culinary skills. You always have been a great cook , though. Sorry you didn't get any of your own turkey. :(
Shawna is right. We do read it. It's been a long time since you wrote anything, but we are lucky enough to hear from you in emails and phone calls. It is really great that three of our kids love to cook, and one doesn't mind. You should have noted that your ward is Grandma J's former ward. She would have been so proud!
Love ya, Mom and Dad (can't figure out why this won't publish)
